Awaken-My Love!

-Childish Gambino

Rapper Childish Gambino shows off his singing pipes in this release, a change of direction that caught the attention of the music critic world. With a new fusion of soul, funk, and R&B, the album notes a firm departure from his previous hip-hop influences. Gambino, born Donald Glover, is a celebrated American actor, writer, producer, director, comedian, DJ, singer, and songwriter. The man has 21 awards across a variety of platforms, but no Grammys to date. Considering his multi-talented background, we thought it appropriate to dedicate the “Goody Two Shoes” cocktail to Glover.

You’ll Need:

10 ounces Pina Colada Mix

5 ounces White Rum

2 squirts of lime juice

2 tbsp sugar

Strawberry garnish

Cut the tops off of the strawberries before tossing everything into the blender. Hit puree and watch the magic happen. Pour into a daiquiri glass and garnish the rim with a strawberry.

4:44

-Jay Z

He’s out of retirement, again, and making waves again, too. Jay Z is back on top and looking to bring home the gold with his 22nd Grammy. He’s got a good shot at winning it, too, since the American rapper is nominated for 8 Grammys this year alone. Even though he’s from Brooklyn, help this native New Yorker celebrate with this awesome Manhattan recipe.

You’ll Need:

3/4th ounce Sweet Vermouth

2 ½ Ounce Burdon Whiskey

1 dash Angostura Bitters

1 Maraschino Cherry

1 Orange Twist

This drink can get pretty customized bartender by bartender, but in general, you’ll want to lightly mix the vermouth, bourbon, and bitters with 2-3 large ice cubes. The trick is to be tender in your blending, so as not to cloud the drink. Next, place the cherry at the bottom of a cocktail glass, pouring your drink atop it. Use the orange twist to the rim of the glass, but don’t drop it in.

DAMN

-Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar is a California raised rapper who made heads turn on the music scene in 2017. With seven Grammys already under his belt, Lamar is looking to add to the gold this year. With an album titled “DAMN”, you know we had to go right for it with a cocktail built around the kickin’ 100 proof “HOT DAMN” cinnamon schnapps. Let’s throw a little shade to his New York rapper competition (Jay Z) with this drink, titled “DAMN YANKEE”

You’ll Need:

½ ounce Hot Damn

½ ounce of Cream

Splash of Blue Curacao liquor

Start with the Hot Damn in a shot glass, adding the cream on top, and a splash of blue to create this layered shot.

Melodrama

-Lorde

Absent on the scene following her hit album “Pure Heroine” in 2013, Lorde is back in a big way with her Melodrama album. The 21-year-old songstress previously claimed two Grammys for her hit single “Royals,” including “Song of the Year.” Considering she chose her stage name based on a fascination with royals, it seems only fitting that her tribute drink should be equally aristocratic. We present the Prosecco Royal.

You’ll Need:

Sparkling Wine

Vodka

Simply pour a glass of bubbly, spiking the top with a dash of vodka.

24 Magic

-Bruno Mars

American born multi-instrumentalist Bruno Mars has a big presence for his tiny 5’5” size. Hailing from Hawaii, Bruno is also an accomplished choreographer and record producer. With five Grammys to his name, he’s looking to bring home a new trophy to add to his collection following his wildly popular arena tour in 2017. Let’s take the obvious choice again and grab right for Goldschlager liquor. Since it has 24 karat gold floating in it, it’d be hard to make a tribute drink to this album without it. It’s called the Gingerbread Man, and we think it’s perfect for Bruno.

You’ll Need:

1/3rd ounce Goldschlager Liqueur

1/3rd-ounce Butterscotch schnapps

1/3rd ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream

Mix all three in a shaker with ice before pouring into a highball glass and serving.
